History
A brief history
A Catholic house at Westminster, Maryland, which grew out of the Newman Bookshop and published widely in patristics and theology from the 1940s through the 1960s — among its series, the Ancient Christian Writers translations catalogued here.1 Paulist Press acquired Newman Press in 1962, together with its bookstores in Baltimore and Washington, D.C.2 Its founding year was not established from the sources checked at cataloguing time; the name honours John Henry Newman.
