A brief history
Paulist Press traces to the Catholic Publication Society founded in 1866 by Isaac Hecker; it took the name Paulist Press in 1913 and is the publishing ministry of the Paulist Fathers.1 In 1962 it absorbed Newman Press, under whose name the Ancient Christian Writers series of patristic translations appears.2
