The Works of John Owen, D.D.

One author — John Owen · est. 1850 · 24-volume set — 17 vols. Works + 7 vols. Hebrews

William H. Goold's original collected edition of John Owen, issued in London and Edinburgh by Johnstone and Hunter — the edition every later reprint (including both of Banner of Truth's modern sets) descends from. Twenty-four volumes in two parts, published in stages: volumes 1-17 collect Owen's doctrinal, practical, and controversial writings, 1850-53 (opening with Andrew Thomson's prefatory "Life of Dr Owen"); volumes 18-24 followed in 1855 as a separate seven-volume work, An Exposition of the Epistle to the Hebrews, with Preliminary Exercitations — Owen's single largest work, not included in Banner's 16-volume Works reprint but reprinted by Banner as its own seven-volume set (catalogued separately). This edition's own volume-by-volume content boundaries across the 17 Works volumes were not independently sourced (Banner's Works reprint condenses the same material into 16, so the two don't line up 1:1) — but the Hebrews portion divides 7-for-7 against Banner's Hebrews reprint, which is independently confirmed as reprinting this exact 1855 division unchanged, so those seven volumes' content is given with confidence below.
