An Expositional Commentary
One author — James Montgomery Boice · 27 volumes
Boice's commentaries, and unusually for a set of this size the work of a single preacher. Each began as a sermon series at Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia and on The Bible Study Hour, and was then written up: the exposition runs passage by passage, leans on hymnody and on illustration, and keeps the pulpit's cadence rather than the seminar's. Twenty-seven volumes appeared, covering Genesis, Psalms, Daniel, the Minor Prophets, the Gospel of John, Acts, Romans, Ephesians, Philippians and the Epistles of John among others.1 Several were published first by Zondervan and later reissued by Baker, so a given book's spine depends on when the copy was printed.
