An Expositional Commentary

Boice's commentaries, and unusually for a set of this size the work of a single preacher. Each began as a sermon series at Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia and on The Bible Study Hour, and was then written up: the exposition runs passage by passage, leans on hymnody and on illustration, and keeps the pulpit's cadence rather than the seminar's. Twenty-seven volumes appeared, covering Genesis, Psalms, Daniel, the Minor Prophets, the Gospel of John, Acts, Romans, Ephesians, Philippians and the Epistles of John among others.¹ Several were published first by Zondervan and later reissued by Baker, so a given book's spine depends on when the copy was printed.
