History

A brief history

The Westminster Press traced its beginnings to the Presbyterian Tract Society, founded in Philadelphia in 1833, with publishing under way by 1838.1 When the Presbyterian Church divided, two imprints emerged — Westminster Press in the north and John Knox Press in the south. On the denomination's reunion in 1988 the two combined to form Westminster John Knox Press, which still sells the Library of Christian Classics today.2
