History

A brief history

Don and Brenda Jacobson founded the house at Phoenix in 1987 as Questar Publishers, moved it to Sisters, Oregon, two years later, and renamed it Multnomah Publishers in 1997.12 Under Jacobson it published well over a thousand titles across fourteen years, John Piper's among them, and in 2006 Random House bought it and folded its operations into WaterBrook at Colorado Springs, where the two now trade together as WaterBrook Multnomah within Penguin Random House.23 The volume held here, Piper's revised Pleasures of God, is from the Sisters years. Note that the name has an older lineage as well - Multnomah Press was the publishing arm of the Multnomah School of the Bible in Portland - and the two are not the same firm; see also this catalogue's record for WaterBrook, whose history names the Multnomah founders differently and needs checking against these sources.
