F. Westley and A. H. Davis

Francis Westley was a London bookseller who succeeded to a business in Stationers' Court, hard by St Paul's Churchyard, early in the 19th century.¹ By the late 1820s the imprint "F. Westley and A. H. Davis" was appearing on London religious and missionary publications, including work issued for the London Missionary Society. The house's place in this catalogue rests on a single book: Edward Hickman's two-volume edition of The Works of Jonathan Edwards, published in 1834, which became the standard English text and which the Banner of Truth Trust has reprinted ever since (catalogued separately).² It is easily confused with the unrelated Strand bookseller Robert Hall Westley, who traded as Westley and Parrish and afterwards as F. C. Westley across the same decades.¹
