History
A brief history
A Pilgrim's Coffer deals in second-hand and antiquarian Reformed and Puritan books, and from 2024 became a publisher as well, taking on a job nobody had attempted: retypesetting all 63 volumes of Spurgeon's pulpit sermons.1 Every reprint until now — Pilgrim's and, through it, Reformation Heritage's — has been a photographic facsimile of the Victorian setting, so the text has never been reset since Passmore & Alabaster first printed it. The new volumes carry a larger, crisper face, correct errors found in the originals, and add supplementary matter, while deliberately leaving Spurgeon's language and spelling unmodernised and keeping the styling of the original volumes.1 They are clothbound hardbacks, printed and bound in the United States, and issued in both a standard and a limited edition. Work runs volume by volume in sequence, beginning with New Park Street vol. 1 (1855), with the full set intended over several years.1
