Notes: Four centuries of Baptist history in one volume, following the tradition from a despised English sect to a worldwide movement. The emphasis falls on the English-speaking world but the book deliberately works in non-English-speaking Baptists, ethnic minorities, women and minority theological strands. Paginated xi + 356; a second edition has since appeared and is not held here. Nettles's three-volume history, also held, covers the same ground through biography instead.
